Randall Finnerty is a visual artist who has been working for a number of years with charcoal on paper, portraying a cast of animal and human characters that are often set in wilderness environments or on the periphery of human settlements. Rooted in his experiences of growing up in northern Ontario, these images reflect upon our disjointed relationship with nature. Flying objects, highways and power lines are the tentacles that project outward from civilisation into the natural world. By placing animals among the detritus of our civilization, they bear curious witness to the things in which we engage.
